Corner of the Sky

For the past couple of days I've been listening to Pippin in the car as I've been driving and I have particularly liked this song that Pippin himself sings called Corner of the Sky. Pippin feels lost in what to do with his life as he observes nature and how it all has it's place. He doesn't want to settle for just anything in his life. He wants to seek out something more. I especially like the phrase (highlighted in bold) where he talks about daydreams and goals and how we feel when they stick to our souls. I have to say that I am definitely a day dreamer. I love to dream of things that could happen or that I would like to have happen in my life and they give me courage to want to pursue them. I must admit, I get a little down when things don't happen that I would like to have happen in my life. But that has never stopped me from continuing to daydream and set new goals to help make them come true one day. Thanks Pippin for helping me know that I am not the only day dreamer out there who wants to have more happen in my life.

Corner of the Sky
from Pippin

Everything has its season
Everything has its time
Show me a reason and I'll soon show you a rhyme
Cats fit on the windowsill
Children fit in the snow
Why do I feel I don't fit in anywhere I go?

Rivers belong where they can ramble
Eagles belong where they can fly
I've got to be where my spirit can run free
Got to find my corner of the sky

Every man has his daydreams
Every man has his goal
People like the way dreams have
Of sticking to the soul

Thunderclouds have their lightning
Nightingales have their song
And don't you see I want my life to be
Something more than long....

Rivers belong where they can ramble
Eagles belong where they can fly
I've got to be where my spirit can run free
Got to find my corner of the sky

So many men seem destined
To settle for something small
But I won't rest until I know I'll have it all
So don't ask where I'm going
Just listen when I'm gone
And far away you'll hear me singing
Softly to the dawn:

Rivers belong where they can ramble
Eagles belong where they can fly
I've got to be where my spirit can run free
Got to find my corner of the sky

  1. Oh my gosh, I totally sang this in middle school. And for fear I didn't understand the story, my parents rented Pippin the 80's version with the main character slightly looking like David Bowie with curly blond locks....hubba hubba. Great song!
