Do you remember that old commercial where the boy goes up to an owl and asks, "Mr. Owl. How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?" The owl takes the Tootsie Pop and begins to count his licks. "One, two," and then taking a huge bit of the tootsie pop says, "Three." The look on the boys face indicates he doesn't really believe the owl. Then you hear a voice over guy saying, "How many licks does it take to get the center of a Tootsie Pop? The world may never know."
I remember as a kid trying to test this out. I would get a Tootsie Pop and try to count my licks. I never was able to figure it out. And then, there is all these questions of does it count if your sucking on the Tootsie Pop or do you really have to lick it one at a time? How long does your tongue have to stay on the Tootsie Pop to be considered a lick?
There are many things in life that I don't know. I guess that is part of life, to learn to figure them out. And when you have tried and tested them, if you still don't have an answer but you know there should be one that is where faith must come in. But it's not simply faith you need to have. You need to continue to try and learn more.
Every scripture you read, every pray you say, every temple visit you make, every hymn you study, every Ensign/Conference talk you read all help you get one step closer to finding that sweet treasure in the center and knowing how to get there.
So don't give up and don't think that "the world will never know" because one day we will know, whether by discovring it yourself or by finally standing before God and asking him. Take the challenge. See if I'm right.
